Customize Ombre Stamping ft. Stampin' Up Jar of Love

Hi everyone! Today I have some really cool stamping ideas and techniques to share with you. Are you still on the fence about getting a stamping tool like the MISTI, Stamparatus and stamping platform by Tim Holtz? Well, I really think they are great investments and I hardly ever stamp with my clear block now! So whichever you pick, I'm sure you won't regret it. ☺

Video Tutorial:

Today's video shows you how you can use your stamping tools to create ombre looks. You can really use your imagination and combine all kinds of colors. In this project, I used the VersaMagic inks and "blended" Thatched Straw (light yellow) with "Mango" (dark yellow), and "Aloe Vera" with "Aegean Blue". It really is a great way to stretch your inks and add that wow factor to your card.

The second stamping tool technique is actually tied with die cutting. Have you ever stamped an image, and later on die cut it off-centered so you ended up tossing the piece away? Talk about frustration and wasted time! The trick to prevent that is to create a template and use a stamping tool.
Step 1. Place your die in the middle of a small piece of cardstock, and die cut. This will become your template. Remember to save the cut-out piece too.
Step 2. Using your stamping tool, stamp the image on scrap paper. Don't remove the stamp from the tool afterwards!
Step 3. Place your template on top of the scrap paper. Try to align the die-cut hole with the image, and secure the template down with magnets.
Step 4. Piece the die-cut from Step 1 back into the template, and stamp away!
This tip also saves you a bunch of time because you don't have to carefully line up your die with a pre-stamped image.

I hope you liked today's creative take on using the Jar of Love stamp set. I only used one image from this stamp set, and it's not even one of the jars!

Also, let me know if you've tried the ombre-stamping or the perfect-die-cutting technique before. I thought they're pretty neat and are great ways to utilize our stamping tools.
